Everything about Detective Conan:
Summary 6
The first
case in this session is called “The Seven Detectives” or “And Then There Were
None.” It begins with Kogoro, Ran and
Conan in a car to “The Sunset Mansion.” The mansion is not bright and sunny but
as Kogoro says “more like Dracula’s castle.” Kogoro was invited to the mansion
by “the phantom child that god abandoned,” and given a 2 million yen check.
That is the only reason why they’re there. They had
just stopped at a gas station while back and they’re driving to the mansion
while talking about monsters, Ran’s afraid of course, when Kogoro breaks
because someone is blocking the road (while screaming about an ogre ^^). It’s
an old lady.
She turns
out to be a detective on the way to the mansion. Her name is Furoyo Senma. They get there and they run into the other
detectives invited. The first one Kogoro meets (while Ran rushes to the
bathroom) is Harufumi Mogi,
then Shukuzen Ogami, the maid (who is not a detective and was given the job through a
very strange interview), then Ikumi Souda who was looking at something on the stairs.
Turns out
she’s spraying Luminol all over the place noting that
there is blood spilt all over the place.
And that
is when the only teenaged detective that could make it walks down the stairs.
(Heiji couldn’t make it cause of midterm exams ^^). Very dramatically
he walks down, with his pet hawk Watson on his arm – Hakuba Saguru.
So
they all start mingling and settling – and playing poker which in the DC world
basically can be summed up to losing to Ran. Ikumi
points out that two of Ran’s cards are stuck together – turns out by blood and
her dad, like any father, asks her what’s wrong. It’s revealed the massacre of
the mansion happened there and Ran freaks and jumps to her dad for protection,
who looks at her surprised.
At that point the maid comes in and announces that the master has
called them to dinner.
The
master is a hooded figure who introduces them by saying, “The six detectives!
Thank you for joining me at the
He wants
the detectives to find the treasure that was hidden somewhere in the mansion.
“By risking your life.”
Suddenly
there is an explosion outside.
It’s Harufumi’s expensive car – and all the others. He goes on like all evil villains trapping people in one place that
there’s no escape, surrender to your fate, you might live if I get the
treasure, etc. Harufumi isn’t exactly pleased with
all of this (his car is very important to him) and pulls the hood of the
figure. It’s a speaker on a dummy.
Kogoro is
surprised and asks, “Then who asked us here?” Of course
all the other detectives kind of chuckle and say, “Don’t you know? It was on
the invitation – the “Phantom Child” that God abandoned – a phantom is magical –
child written a certain way in Japanese means it’s referring to an animal – the
child that God abandoned stands for a goat, a story in the Bible – in English a
baby goat is called-”
“Kid,”
finishes Hakuba in English, “Kid the Phantom Thief.”
They talk
about Kid for a little while Conan thinks to himself that Kid is already here
in the mansion. He already feels Kid’s cold eerie presence.
“I don’t
know what your planning but can you go through with
this? With these 7 detectives around you?”
(Okay if
you had been counting how many detectives there were you realize there are six
– Kogoro, Senma, Harufumi, Shikuzen, Ikumi, and Hakuba. So
who’s the seventh detective? I think it should be painfully obvious guys ^^).
Quick back story on Hakuba. His mother is British and his father
in an Inspector in the Tokyo PD. So because Hakuba was
a rising teen detective star, his father asked Nakamori to let Hakuba tag along
and try to capture Kid. Like Shinichi he’s never
failed at a case. But of course everyone fails to
capture Kid – so basically that’s what Hakuba is dedicated to. The funny thing
is he goes to the same school as Kaito and Hakuba knows Kaito is Kid – he just
doesn’t have the evidence to prove it. ^^)
Anyway
they go on to debate whether Kid would try to kill anyone because the recording
made it seem that basically it would be their last meal.
They eat,
wary if the cups, plates and utensil should have poison on them. Nothing
happens and Senma suggests that perhaps it was their
imaginations. Hakuba replies curtly, “No we can’t jump to conclusions yet.”
Then the
recording starts going off again. And begins to
explain the story of the Crow Association. Half a century ago
they mysteriously disappeared. Everything in the house is marked with the seal
of the crow – meaning the mansion was built and owned by the
association.
One night
all of the highest members were invited to the mansion
– to honor the death of one of the older members you had died at age 99. The
memorial was actually an auction to sell off all of the things he had been
collecting. It was supposed to last three days. On the
second night two men soaking wet arrived to the
mansion asking for shelter. The leader refused them but they gave him a leaf
and told him to roll it in paper like a cigarette and smoke it. After smoking
it for a while the leader let them in. They began to
pass out more leaves and soon everyone was smoking and getting in a happy mood.
Of course the leaf was marijuana.
But soon
chaos broke out. One man was running
around the mansion clutching the antique vase he bought. Another woman cried
until she was out of tears, and then one man started slashing his wrist with a
pen. Soon everyone was fighting over the things for auction and were killing each other. Leaving eight dead and many dying
the two men that had arrived disappeared with the auction items.
Kogoro
questions if it was such a big case how come they, the best
detectives in the country had never heard of it. The only conclusion is
that someone very important is among the dead. The police can’t
tell who killed who or who the two men are.
The
figure starts speaking again and gives them a hint.
“The
night that the two devils arrived, the devils possessed people and the King
clutched his treasures and ran around the room, the queen cried for forgiveness
and the knight drew his own blood.”
Ran
replies, “Isn’t that the story we just heard?” Nonetheless
it is the hint. And the killing between them will
begin when the first scream is out. Harufumi starts
pretending he’s choking on poison but then starts to leave. That’s when Shikuzen starts gasping and falls out of his seat to land
on the floor unconscious. Harufumi looks at him and
says, “Hey it’s not funny the second time around.”
Hakuba
bends over him.
“Pulse
stopped at 10:34 and 51 seconds.”
They
determine it’s cyanide but it’s not in the tea.
Harufumi
gets mad at the figure and starts shaking it. A tape player/ recorder falls out. The serving times had been preset and everything
which means as Conan so eloquently puts it, “That the criminal was trying to
kill Shikuzen from the start – and that the criminal
maybe one of us.”
They
discuss what’s going on (like all good detectives
should when they are together) and then Ran, with a very concerned look on her
face says, “But the criminal we’re talking about it the Kaitou Kid right? I’ve
heard that he doesn’t kill people but...”
Hakuba
agrees, “Yes from what I know this is the first.”
While
they talk about that Conan notices something about Shikuzen’s
hand.
They go
outside and check out the cars. Yes all the ones that
were parked at the front of the house were blown up. But
they do realize that there was an extra car. Ran says, “Then there can be
someone in the mansion other than us?!” The maid is scared for a moment that her car, which she parked
out back must be gone too. They go and check it out and the car is intact. They
want to go down and check if the bridge really is out. Conan suggests that they
flip coins. Senma picks up the one farthest from her
and the rest get their coins. They flip.
So Kogoro,
Senma and Harufumi are to
go and check the bridge. As the car is leaving below them
Conan notices it has and X taped on the roof, Conan wonders if that’s on
purpose and then looks back at Hakuba – who has a smirk on his face.
Over at
the out of order bridge Kogoro and Harufumi are checking things
out when the car, with Senma-san inside blows up and
falls over the cliff. Harufumi guesses that it was
set to explode if the lights were tampered with.
The
others find out when they all meet back at the mansion and decide to
investigate the mansion. They split up but realize that Hakuba isn’t with them...
In the
piano room Kogoro, Harufumi and Conan find a code –
which Conan automatically knows what it means. Around the piano
they notice moisture and Harufumi mentions that Ikumi had been spraying luminol
there. They turn off the light in the room....
In the bathroom Ikumi puts Ran and the
maid asleep using something on a rag.
Back in
the piano room they realize a message is written there
in blood, something which Kogoro looks very confident about...
Back in
the bathroom Hakuba comes out and confronts Ikumi....
Kogoro
and Harufumi hear a gunshot and run out, they see Hakuba laying on the floor dead. They hears steps running up the stair case a follow in pursuit.
Upon entering the room they see Ikumi
dead, the doorknob booby trapped.
Harufumi
then turns on Kogoro sure he is the culprit. Kogoro
falls down, shot through the heart.
Harufumi
takes out a cigarette, only to find it laced with cyanide...
We then
see the black figure sitting in their hiding place, sure that they are safe,
only to be shaken up by “The seventh detective invited
to this mansion...”
The
culprit runs down the stairs and then sees Conan – who explains just how she
did everything and that he knew from the beginning, and reveals the secret of
the mansion, everything is made of gold... and everyone was in on the plan to
lure her out.
A
helicopter arrives to pick them up and as they are flying away when Senma jumps out of the plane in an attempt to commit
suicide.
Kogoro
however jumps out after her and reveals that it was actually the Kaitou Kid the
whole time...
Senma
actually jumped out because any minute now Conan and Hakuba were going to catch
him and he hadn’t noticed...
Kid flies
away and turns everyone’s attention to the “Golden mansion” that is literally
made of gold (when Conan revealed the secret of the mansion a switch started
up).
The real
Kogoro the whole time was back at the gas station...
