Everything about Detective Conan:

 Summary 5

All right! I got a little bit of time here and I’m going to try to cover as much as possible in about an hour.

The first case is “The Bus Bomb Case” and it begins with a scene of Gin and Vodka at a cocktail club listening to a singer who has a great voice. A waiter then comes up with martinis he says are from the singer for the two of them. Gin puts his cigarette out in Vodka’s so he doesn’t drink it, grabs the ice pick while grabbing the waiters head to stab the pick into. Turns out it was Vermouth in disguise. (Yes, this is a point to remember. Vermouth can disguise herself as good as the Kaitou Kid.)  There’s some flirty talk then between Vermouth and Gin – especially when she asks him if he wants to make some “Martini” tonight. “When you mix Gin and Vermouth together – mixing black and black together will only give you black.” (Really the line is just basically symbolic of sex. Gosho tends not to put too much of the sexy stuff in his stories so when he does put something in it’s usually done as above.)

We then skip to the Agasa and the kids, plus Conan and Ai, who are on the way to go skiing. Conan and Ai have a seat together and are talking about the organization. She admits that when they met Pisco she could feel the presence of someone else from the organization – someone to be feared far worse. Ai knows very well who she is talking about but of course doesn’t tell Conan about Vermouth. Suddenly Ai freezes up and asks Conan to switch seats with her – she can feel Vermouth there on the bus somewhere. The next panel shows one of Dr. Araide saying hi to the kids. Conan turns to Ai and asks her “Is something wrong with Dr. Araide – come to think of it you were absent on the day of the check-ups.” Genta sees a lady standing behind Araide and asks him if he’s on a date. Turns out the lady is Jodie. They take the empty bus bench in front of Conan and Ai. Ai scrunches down in her seat even more. A man walks by then and Conan looks back to get a look at him. Dark eyes, a ski cap and is wearing a cold gauze.

And then the bus is hijacked by some guys in ski outfits. They’re demanding the release of their boss. We then get the names of the three people sitting at the back of the bus. The man with the cold gauze is named Shuichi, a man with a hearing aid is called Yasuhiko, and a very annoying woman chewing gum is named Miharu. When one of the hijackers walks down the aisle he trips over Jodie’s leg that is sticking out after crossing them. The guy starts cursing her but she just starts squabbling in English on how she’s sorry and holds the guy’s hand that is holding the gun as she finishes apologizing. He just tells her to get to her seat. Jodie whispers to Conan how it’s all so exciting. (She’s really coming off as an airhead huh?) Conan eventually figures out that one of the three in the back is with the hijackers. Meanwhile the two hijackers lay out two vertical bags down the aisle of the bus. Conan tries to get closer to it to get a better look but a hijacker is quickly there with gun up at Conan. Jodie looks on with narrowed eyes and the kids and Agasa are worried. Fortunately Dr. Araide steps in front of Conan and says they can’t blame the kid for being curious. They back down when they realize the bullet could hit the bags and they tell them to get back to their seats. Conan’s suspicion is automatically confirmed – the bags have bombs in them. We get a sequence of Ai thinking about Vermouth – hoping to God that she doesn’t find her. Jodie turns around and tells Conan not to take so many risks- “You’ll get your chance cool kid.” She tries to say hi to Ai and asks for her name. Conan tells Jodie that Ai is just a girl they met on the bus and she’s very scared. As Jodie turns around she takes a shrewd look at Ai. Conan is now sure that a member of the Black Organization is on the bus, however right now he has to worry about figuring out who is the third terrorist.

Of course quickly Conan figures it out and then passes note pad to Jodie asking her if she has a lipstick. While Conan is telling the kids his plan in the dark tunnel we get Vermouth’s thoughts “Where can a lipstick bring us? Show me your magic… Cool guy…”

As we all know, Conan’s plan ends up working. But the two main hijackers aren’t exactly happy with Conan and one tries to attack him (he’s already stunned the other one). He is stopped by Jodie who had actually put the lock on his gun earlier. (In Japan most criminals get guns off the street, like everywhere, the difference is that they don’t know how to use them.) However the third accomplice, the one that was in the back, had a watch that set off the bombs. It’s gone off and they all only have less than a minute to get off of the bus. Everyone is getting off but it’s only until they’re all out does he realize that Haibara has stayed behind.

She does it because she believes the kids will be in danger if she stays. If she’s gone she won’t have the chance to run into Vermouth while they question everyone. Suddenly a bullet breaks the window in the back of the bus. Someone’s come in through the window. He grabs her hand and jumps out through another window with her just as the bomb explodes.

We all know who her savior is by then of course (:wink).

Conan tells Takagi to get Ai and the kids to the hospital. As Ai’s being carried away by Takagi Conan tells her, “Don’t run away Ai. Don’t look away from your destiny.”

Then after they are gone Conan talks a bit with Jodie (she once again calls him Cool Kid) and he’s about to go off and join the questioning when Dr. Araide comes up to Conan and notices a large wound Conan has on his arm and sends the kid to the hospital. In the mean time Akai Shuichi slips away from the scene, talking into his voice recorder “Feb. 23rd Because of an unexpected incident I could not find that target… The target never showed… I will continue this assignment on a later date. Over.”

The next case is called “The Dog Lovers Case” and is mainly kid’s case. We do get a lot of Haibara smiling and acting cute. We get a scene where Conan says to Ai, a bit cocky, that he can sense people who have the capacity to kill and that no one on that bus was going to kill her. Ai responds with a look and then walks off saying that she can relax. And the last page is especially nice because Ai smiles really happily and Conan tells her that if she always looked like that no one would think she was anything else but a little girl. (Mind you the same goes for Conan, except his would apply to running off at the mouth.)

The next case after that is “the Soccer Murder.” It’s a really great case and I hate talking about it here so I’m going to keep what I say down to a minimum. The first is that it takes place in Osaka, so Heiji and Kazuha are in it. Shinichi’s favorite soccer player, Ray Curtis is at the event they go to see. Of course Ran remembers this and is able to get Shinichi a signed jersey from Ray. Ray, of course does it but not without asking Ran if it’s for her boyfriend. ^^

The next case I call “A Straight.” It takes place just as Ran, Kogoro and Conan are waiting to board the train home from Osaka. Shinichi takes the waiting time as an opportunity to call Ran. He thanks her for the jersey, which he found out about from “Conan” and is just about to hang up when Ran asks him to wait. And just as she’s asking him “How do you feel about me?” a train rushes by and Shinichi takes the opportunity to hang up. Skip to where they’re leaving; Kazuha is continually telling Ran, “You’ve got to tell it to him straight!” and the train moves off. Just then Takagi walks by muttering to himself “No, being straight forward is a taboo.” He’s thinking about how to win over Sato. ^^ (Cutie Takagi!) So we get a lot of Takagi and Sato in this one but as time is short for me I’ll have to cut this one short to yes a murder happens and both of them get their wages cut. Mind you Sato is still very cheerful at the end of it. Who guesses why?

The next session will include “The 7 Detectives (And then there were none) Case.”

And maybe I’ll get another one out sooner… Until next time!
